A rare and gorgeous piece by Henriot Quimper, made on the Brittany coast of France in the 1940s. This vessel is shaped like a swan, hand-painted with vibrant decoration in traditional Breton cobalt and ochre. Features a charming Breton folk portrait on the front, and signed by the artist inside.
Each piece of Henriot's Quimper pottery was (and still is) painstakingly hand-painted and signed by their talented artists, creating rare, valuable, and highly collectible pieces.
Faience refers to a specific type of tin-glazed earthenware pottery. The category includes several popular types of decorative pottery, such as delftware and majolica.
Excellent vintage condition with some minor interior age spotting, plus a minuscule glaze nick on the interior rim. The nick is so small that it can be felt more than seen, but see final photo for the best image I could get.
